Having spent the months before in Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan, when I came to Japan, I had doubts that Japan's famed buddhist temples and shrines would be able to impress me. I was wrong! Japan's temples have a very unique style that proved to be fascinating.

Osaka was the first city I visited in Japan and I was instantly fascinated by the country. I was lucky to enjoy a warm and sunny day in Osaka.

When I visited Japan in autumn, especially in Osaka and Kyoto the autumn colours were absolutely spectacular and the first two days that we spend in and around Osaka we got super lucky with the weather and I was able to put my f/1.8 lens to use when I went on a hunt for colourful autumn leaves.

Hoshida Park in the suburbs of Osaka is a fantastic spot for viewing autumn leaves. It is popular with locals, but little known among tourists. Getting there is quite hard, we ended up hitchhiking the last kilometres, but the amazing suspension bridge (free!) and the beautiful fall foliage colours are certainly worth the trip!
